Let’s talk wedding shoes. Not the ones you’ll wear once and stash away forever—but the shoes that feel like you the moment you slip them on. Whether you’re dreaming of timeless heels, chic and comfy flats, or bold statement sneakers, your bridal footwear is a chance to bring a little extra personality to your look.

At deMelis Atelier, we see just about every style walk through our studio. And after hundreds of fittings, bustling trains, and pinning hems, we’ve built a pretty good list of shoes we trust—brands we love, aesthetics we see over and over, and honest thoughts about what works (and what doesn’t) on a wedding day.

Our Favorite Bridal Shoe Brands

There’s a reason some shoes show up again and again—beautiful design, comfort, and durability count for a lot when you’re in them for 8+ hours. Here are a few of our go-to brands across all price points and aesthetics:

• Loeffler Randall – The modern romantic’s favorite. Their signature pleated bow heels (hello, Camellia) are feminine without being fussy—and come in gorgeous neutral tones.

• Bella Belle – Made for the bride who wants elegance and comfort. Intricate embroidery, delicate lace, and walkable heels.

• Dolce Vita – Simple, trend-forward, and often surprisingly affordable. Great for brides wanting something low-profile but stylish.

• Naturalizer – Comfort-first and often overlooked, but honestly? They make really beautiful, supportive options that don’t scream “orthopedic.”

• Betsey Johnson – For the bride who wants sparkle or something blue. Fun, glitzy, and not too serious.

• Badgley Mischka – A favorite for classic glamour with vintage-inspired embellishments. Think pearls, crystals, and structured silhouettes.

• Nina Shoes – Reliable and budget-friendly with a lot of variety.

• The Designer Names We See on Repeat- Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin – If you’re going the high-end shoe route, these will deliver the dream. While some might be more “fashion” than “function” we find Jimmy Choo’s to be the most comfortable of these designer brands. 

Bridal Shoe Aesthetics

Bridal shoes say a lot about a bride’s personality. These are the most common styles we see—each one just as valid and wedding-worthy as the next.

The Classic Bride

She loves tradition and a timeless silhouette. Think satin or leather pumps, a pointed toe, a little sparkle or a delicate strap. Ivory or nude are the go-to shades. This bride likely wants their shoes to feel elegant and cohesive with her gown, not distracting.

Favorites: Loeffler Randall, Badgley Mischka, Manolo Blahnik (especially Hangisi), Bella Belle

The Simple Bride

She wants to feel effortless—nothing too fussy, nothing she’ll regret. Often, this bride gravitates toward clean lines, flats or kitten heels, and comfort above all else. It’s not about making a shoe statement—it’s about staying grounded.

Favorites: Naturalizer, Dolce Vita, Bella Belle flats, Nina Shoes

The Modern Bride

Color? Yes. Sneakers? Why not. This bride wants to have fun and be herself from head to toe. Whether it’s custom Converse, hot pink heels, or even bridal Crocs (yes, it’s a thing), this look adds a little edge and makes for great photos.

Favorites: Converse, Nike Blazers, Loeffler Randall in bold colorways, Betsey Johnson, Crocs

What to Consider When Choosing Your Shoes

• Comfort matters. You’ll be on your feet more than you think—between walking, dancing, posing, and sneaking off for touch-ups. Break them in beforehand or bring a second pair to change into.

• Timing is key. Bring your wedding shoes to ALL OF YOUR FITTINGS. (we can’t shout this loud enough, sorry)  They determine your hem and bustle placement. Showing up without THE shoe or switching heel height mid-process can throw off your whole alterations timeline.

• Not all whites match. Ivory, bright white, champagne, bone—they’re all different. Try to match the tone of your gown or opt for a complementary nude, blush, or metallic to stay safe.

• It’s okay to change. So many brides wear heels for the ceremony and switch to flats or sneakers for the reception. We love a wardrobe shift that gives your feet a break. (Note that hems are always done to accommodate the higher shoe height.)
  

There’s no rule that says your wedding shoes have to be expensive, sparkly, or matching. What matters most is that they feel good—on your feet and in your heart. Whether you’re team sneaker, stiletto, or slipper, your shoes should make you feel like yourself, just a little more dressed up.
